50 years since the earthquake 7,6R in Santorini PDF Print E-mail

9th of July Santorini has an embarrassing annivarsary.  At this day, in 1956. the island had a strong earthquake and big destruction.
Every year, this day, every bell of every churche in Santorini is ringing all day long, reminding the cursed day of the non-volcanic earhquake of 1956. The earhquake (7.6R) distroyed almost everything on the island, especially Exo Gonia and Mesa Gonia. All the inhabitants moved to the area nowadays named "Kamari". The village has been created in 1956, because of that erthquake.

Santorini, Ios, Amorgos, Naxos, Paros, Kalimnos and Leros had tsunami waves 25m. and 40 deceased.
